Elephant Training camp

Day 2 of our trip was filled with some of the most crazy and amazing things that we will probably never get the chance to do again. We headed up bright and early to the Elephant training camp. It was up in the mountains in this jungle of sorts. It was so beautiful and green. The elephants are used to work and are trained to do the heavy labor. The trainers each have their own elephant that they specifically work with.
We had to cross this suspended long bridge to get to the camp.
Each couple rode on an elephant. As crazy as it looks, I truly felt safe. The seat felt so secure on the elephant. We probably rode for about 40 minutes. Through the jungle and then down and through the river.
This is our view from the top. Our trainer didn't speak English very well so we didn't learn too much about him. The only thing we got from him was grunting!! not to us, but to the elephant. He would guide the Elephant by grunting to it! It was pretty entertaining.
It was so calm and peaceful. The surrounding were just amazing.
We then got to feed them Bananas. They would take it from our hand with their trunk and then eat it. So cool.

They then put on a show for us so we could see how they work. The trainers would pretty much hang from them at times when they would reach down with their trunks to pick up something. They even gave them a bath.
For our breakfast we got to ride on these bamboo rafts. We had a little guide that rode with us to steer the raft. Of course Todd had to take a turn.
It was the best place to enjoy a breakfast. We had so much food that we gave our guide a bunch of food as well. He was so excited to get it that I wish we would have given him more.

At the end of the show an elephant painted this picture. He held a brush with his trunk and dipped it into the paint and made this picture. Pretty sweet.
